Bellabox May 2014 Review

I got my May 2014 Bellabox yesterday and this is actually my first subscription box! I am just so thrilled about it!

Now what's a subscription box?

It's a monthly subscription wherein you get a box full of goodies. It can range from beauty products, food, eco-friendly stuff, clothing and a lot more. Prices differ depending on what size and what products you want to subscribe to. The beauty of it is you get to trial products, usually as samples, before you decide if you want to buy the full size product. It's such a craze now as people typically likes getting surprises as you're not usually told what you will get but they do a sneak peak days before it gets sent out to excite members. You can search on the web to see which subscription boxes you will like but make sure to check if they ship to your country to avoid disappointments. I also advice to check for coupon codes that you can use for your first purchase to give you a discount.

Bellabox May 2014
Theme: Come Fly With Me

Bellabox members get to enter a competition where you can win 1 of 10 $100 vouchers from Jetstar
(I have yet to submit my entry but for those like me still trying to write the best entry, we better hurry as competition is only until 30th of May 2014!)

Here's what I got!

Appeles Rosemary Body Bar $5.95
The moment you open the box, this is the first thing you can smell! I love the smell of this soap! You can definitely distinguish the eucalyptus and lemon scent that makes you want to use it right away. I tried it this morning and I'm happy about it. It has a very calming effect and your skin feels cleansed without overdrying. Only downside is that I thought the smell will stick to my skin but unfortunately it didn't. As much as I love this soap I'm not sure if I want to buy a soap for $5.95 plus shipping regularly.

Chapstick Green Apple $3.99
I have tried Chapstick before and it's a good lip balm but I have now since discovered tinted lip balms. I also got a free lip balm recently (see post here) so I'm trying to finish it off first. So I decided to just give this away to my brother who likes lip balms. :p

Wen by Chaz Dean Cleansing Conditioner 480ml $34.99

This is the product that I'm so happy to receive. I have been trying to convert to conditioner only routine for years to no avail. Mr. SF only uses conditioner since he was a kid and I swear he has the shiniest and nicest hair I've ever seen. I have tried using DIY oil substitutes and conditioner only for months but it only made my hair limp, flaky and oily. So, getting a Wen by Chaz Dean Cleansing Conditioner is heaven sent! I tried it this morning as well and it does cleanse your hair without giving you the oily result after. I also put a little bit as a leave in conditioner after rinsing and my hair was very soft and accentuated my wavy hair. The only thing that disappointed me is that it claims to make your hair shiny but, alas, not for me. Maybe it will be shiny after a few days of use so I'm not giving up! I really like this product and I have high hopes for this!

I have found out that this product can be very costly for the average consumer.

Daily Facial Scrub 113g $14.99

This sample may just be enough for a single use for others but I was able to stretch it to 3 uses as I only used a pea size amount  for every use and it still gave me the desired effect. I love the facial scrub as the smell reminded me of Body Shop Grapefruit Range that I adore. I like that the facial scrub also has only small beads which doesn't feel like your face is being scratched like most facial scrubs. It's a good thing I tried this one now as I'm looking for a new cleanser. I'll definitely purchase this and just waiting for other products to be restocked.

I like the Dark Spot Correcting Serum as well as it gave my skin a smooth matte finish. It also feels like my face was stretched and feels like I just had a facial. I like trying out natural products like Yes to Grapefruit and you can actually feel and see the difference compared to products loaded with chemicals. Only downside with this serum is the smell! I was expecting it to be sweet smelling like the facial scrub but unfortunately, it smells like stale grapefruit for me. Good thing it doesn't lasts long so it's forgivable.

Chapstick Limited Edition Tin $8.99
This is the bonus item I got in my box and I am so happy with this. I love pink and red and this just fits my personality. I will definitely use this to keep my lip balms and other knick knacks that can fit in this little tin. Although it's a very cute item, I don't think I'll pay $8.99 for a tin.

Chapstick fits perfectly in this tin and it's definitely a big help to keep beauty addicts organized with their lip balms!

Anastasia Clear Brow Gel $39
This is one of the items that Bellabox showed in their Sneak Peak and it's one of the latest craze in the beauty industry. It claims to tame unruly brows without making it sticky. It can be worn alone or with brow pencils or powders.

Unfortunately, I'm one of those few not so keen in receiving this item. I have sparse brows and it looks weird with just a brow gel. I've tried using one before but it just didn't suit me and I don't think I have enough time every morning to use a brow gel before a brow powder.

And since I cannot use it and I don't want an amazing product go to waste, I decided to give it away to one lucky reader! So for the beauties who love using brow gel or just want to try the latest Anastasia Clear Brow Gel, subscribe now to my blog and watch out for my first giveaway!

I'll post the giveaway soon! I just need to figure out how to use Rafflecopter! LOL

Have you received your May Bellabox too?

What items did you like the most?

I'd love to hear what you think of this May box!

Thanks for your patience in reading this lengthy post.

Keep on smiling!  :)

xoxo Mia
